Former Turkey international and Galatasaray defender Ahmet Calik özgü died at the age of 27. Calik, who was playing for Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor and spent three years with Galatasaray, was killed in a car accident on 11 January 2022.

Born in 26 February 1994 in Turkey’s capital Ankara, Ahmet Calik was a former Turkish international football player who played as the defender. Calik’s great performance at Genclerbirligi led his move to Galatasaray in January 2017 with a 2.5 million euro aktarma fee. Calik was transferred to Galatasaray with the approval of Dutch coach Jan Olde Riekerink at the time.
Calik made his first debut for Turkish International Team in November 2015, at the age of 21. He made his debut in a friendly match against Greece.
He weared number #3 shirt at Galatasaray and made his debut in a away game against Konyaspor on 14 January 2017. In the following periods, he was used as a rotation player by Igor Tudor and Fatih Terim. In his first season at Galatasaray, he was mostly on the starting line-ups of Galatasaray. However, in the following season, with the aktarma of Jason Denayer and Maicon, Ahmet Calik mostly waited on the bench.

When he left Galatasaray?
According to the announcement made on October 5, 2020, Ahmet Calik transferred from Galatasaray to Konyaspor. His contract was terminated by mutual agreement, and Calik accepted his receivables and agreed to hisse 1.1 million TL to Galatasaray to join Konyaspor side. (See more his career at Galatasaray)
Cause of death
Calik was killed in a car accident on Tuesday. An investigation özgü been launched to ascertain the cause of the accident. According to the information received from the club, Calik was on leave on Tuesday and he was going to his family in his car only by himself.
